The Kremlin welcomed on Wednesday the „beginning of a direct dialogue“ between the United States and North Korea after the first meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.
„We can not but welcome the fact that this meeting took place and the beginning of a direct dialogue,“ Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov told reporters.
„Whatever the results of such encounters, they undoubtedly allow us to calm tensions in the peninsula (…) and this generates satisfaction,“ he stressed.
„But it is clear that when dealing with complicated issues, it would be wrong to expect that all the problems are solved in an hour,“ he added.
Peskov recalled that Moscow „the only possible way“ to solve the North Korean nuclear crisis is a „direct dialogue“.
