Prince Harry and Meghan leave Windsor Palace after their wedding, May 19, 2018
Prince Harry and Meghan began Sunday’s new life as a couple after a spectacular and innovative wedding the day before in Windsor, but, caught up with royal obligations, they will have to wait before leaving on their honeymoon.
The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make their first official commitment on Tuesday by joining Prince Charles in the gardens of Buckingham Palace for an event dedicated to charities.
The Prince and the former American actress said „yes“ Saturday at the St. George Chapel of Windsor Castle during a ceremony combining all the pomp of the British monarchy to the accents of African-American culture and hailed by the press as a „triumph“.
Meghan, a 36-year-old divorced girl, became the first member of the British royal family with a white father and black mother, joining the younger son of 33-year-old Princess Diana.

The couple was acclaimed by more than 100,000 people, including many foreign tourists, who traveled to Windsor, a postcard city about 30 kilometers west of London.
„Thanks to all who came to Windsor and those who followed“ the wedding, tweeted the official account of the royal family by posting photos of the jubilant crowd.
In the evening, Harry and Meghan found 200 close friends and family members for a reception hosted by Prince Charles at the Frogmore House Manor, near the castle.
Harry drove the bride himself into a convertible Jaguar Type-E with the registration number E190518, the date of the wedding. Meghan, dressed in Stella McCartney’s silk crepe dress, made a speech, standing out once again from the tradition.
Several celebrities who attended the wedding ceremony, including George Clooney and Serena Williams, were present at the party, punctuated by a fireworks display that lit up Windsor.

„Under a resplendent May sun, the marriage of the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex was a reflection of their personality: a relaxed, graceful, glamorous and adorable couple – it was a triumph“, wrote the Sunday Telegraph, publishing in one a photo of the couple kissing in front of St George’s Chapel.
„The bride was sublime“, added the conservative newspaper, according to which even „Disney could not have created better princess“.
„The best of all royal weddings“, dared the Sun on Sunday, saying that this union was a „historic change“ for the monarchy. „It was a day long in our memories – and it was a wonderful symbol of the country we have become“.
And the Sunday Mirror to increase on this theme by considering that this marriage had been able to embody the „United Kingdom of today: modern, multi-cultural, multi-racial“.
Less enthusiastic, the Guardian called in an editorial not to exaggerate the possible impact of this union. While modern, relative to their parents, Harry and Meghan are in no way „revolutionary,“ wrote the paper, noting that the bride has „abandoned“ his career, and that Prince Harry „did not show he wanted to have one „.
„As for all marriages, there is a feeling of renewal, and even optimism,“ the paper continued, before adding, „But tomorrow, Brexit will still be there.“
