Marine Le Pen addresses members and activists of the National Front, March 11, 2018 at the party congress in Lille
Jean-Marie Le Pen considered Monday that he would now have „more right than anyone“ to use the name of the National Front now that his daughter Marine renamed the party, a decision he described as „political assassination“ .
He also said on France Inter he kept the title of honorary president: it is „not quite removed,“ he said. „The title given to me by the congress of 2011, I keep it“: „it has been by virtue of the services that I have rendered and it seems to me extremely difficult to withdraw it“, has it he sliced.
Asked about France Inter to know if he would join the National Gathering, new name submitted to the approval of activists FN, he replied „certainly not“, and „I make any reservations about the possibilities that I eventually have to resume the name of National Front „.
„It means that if Ms. Le Pen abandons the title of National Front I think I have more right than anyone to use it if I dare say,“ he added.

Asked if he would create another party in the name of Front National, he replied „we do not know“.
The abandonment of the name National Front in favor of National Rally „brings nothing new“ and it is „a real political assassination“, added Mr. Le Pen.
It is „disastrous that we abandon the name National Front because it is an inimitable and unavoidable landmark“, he added, estimating that Marine Le Pen has „apparently lacking imagination“ by choosing this new name, which has „already been used twice, once in the Cantonals of 1985 and once in the Legislative of 1986“.
The FN is „a soul, a story, a past, and ignoring it all seems disastrous,“ he insisted.
