Socialist deputy Olivier Faure, in Jouy-en-Josas, Yvelines, on August 30, 2016
Julien Dray almost a candidate, Delphine Batho at war against the direction … While a certain confusion reigns within ten days of the closure of candidacies to the head of the PS, Olivier Faure garners support and seems best placed for the ‚carry.
Regional Councilor Julien Dray opened the day Thursday by appearing to add his candidacy to those of Luc Carvounas, Stéphane Le Foll, Olivier Faure, Emmanuel Maurel and Delphine Batho. False alert: „I seek to build a collective solution that brings together and there is still time to do it,“ corrected the former MP for Essonne on Facebook.

Another candidate who may not be at the end: that of the former Minister of Ecology Delphine Batho. The member for Deux-Sevres has been launched since Monday in a crusade against the new arrangements for the organization of the Congress, yet approved by the National Council of the PS in December, and submitted to the vote of activists Thursday night.
There is a „little mafia“ who „confiscated the leadership of the Socialist Party“ to „end the internal democracy of the Socialist Party“ by introducing a „new rule that is (…) that those who already run must lead tomorrow, „she thundered at LCP.

Unless an unlikely vote of the militants, these rules should nevertheless apply, justice, seized by a militant PS, having found nothing to repeat. Therefore, it is not certain that Ms. Batho can gather the sponsorship necessary for an application – 16 members of the National Council. „Go get sponsors when we said that the PS was a mafia, it would be paradoxical,“ says an official of the PS.
– Aubry is committed –
In this context, the main candidates continued Thursday to advance their pawns. The president of the PS group in the Assembly Olivier Faure has registered a strong support, that of the Mayor of Lille Martine Aubry, he was the adviser to the Ministry of Employment in the late 1990s.
„I am convinced of his convictions (…) He refuses the agreements between the ones and the others (…) He wishes to put back the party to the work“, said the former first secretary during his wishes to the press .
Mr. Faure should also get the support of much of the former majority of the PS, after it has mourned a single candidacy from his ranks.
„Almost all of the social-democratic pole will switch Olivier Faure,“ predicts the former vallsist MP Philippe Doucet. „Stéphane Le Foll may feel this unfair, but he seems too stuck in the history of the quinquennium when we want to attack a new stage,“ he told AFP.
Another fault of M. Le Foll: having gone alone, when Mr. Faure came to defend his candidacy before the majority. „Stéphane Le Foll has not attended any meeting of the majority since September and we regretted it“.
Meeting Wednesday evening, Mr. Doucet and „a number of representatives of the group of Social Democrats“, including the former spokesman PS Corinne Narassiguin, ruled in favor of Mr. Faure, told the former MP from Val-d’Oise to AFP. A text could be published soon.
Discussions are also well underway between Mr. Faure and the group led by MP Valérie Rabault and the first federal Sébastien Vincini and Emmanuel Grégoire. Faure, who met with representatives of the group on Tuesday, said Wednesday on his Facebook page is „(r) largely“ in their proposals for the governance of the PS. „Valérie Rabault will not be a candidate,“ assures the entourage of Mr. Faure to AFP.
Candidates have until January 27 to declare themselves. The elections will be held on March 15 and 29, and the Congress on April 7 and 8 in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis).
