United States: Apple will pay $ 38 billion in taxes on its profits abroad
Apple will pay 38 billion dollars of taxes on profits earned abroad, because of the recent tax reform passed in the United States, he said Wednesday.
„A payment of this magnitude would be the most important of this type ever made,“ said the company in a statement, which claims to be already the largest US taxpayer.
Before the reform, these profits were totally exempt from taxation as long as they remained „parked“ abroad and found themselves taxed at 35% if they were „repatriated“ to the United States.
The reform offers American companies the possibility of repatriating profits abroad at rates varying between 8% and 15.5%, this window being limited in time, whether the profits are repatriated or not.
The group, the world’s largest market capitalization, also says it will contribute „directly to the US economy“ to the tune of more than 350 billion dollars in the next five years, through 20,000 job creations or more. investments with its suppliers and subcontractors in the United States.
The smartphone giant also said it would open a new „campus“ intended initially to host technical assistance services to customers of the group. Its location will be revealed later in the year, said Apple.
