Two policemen inspect the headquarters of the German Social Democratic Party in Berlin, against which a man with a car crashed, on December 25, 2017
A 58-year-old man tried to commit suicide on Sunday by crashing his car into the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in Berlin, police said Monday.
The man was injured and hospitalized, the source said.
The building’s fire-fighting system put an end to the car’s firestop, in which gas cylinders and naphtha drums were found, police said.
The man told the police that he wanted to commit suicide and that he had deposited a bag with flammable material in front of the headquarters of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), a fact confirmed by the Berlin criminal police in charge of the investigation.
