The flu has entered the „epidemic phase“ in Île-de-France, the region most affected by the disease, said Public Health France in its weekly bulletin.
Eight of the other twelve metropolitan areas are „in the pre-epidemic phase,“ added the surveillance network. They range from Hauts-de-France to Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, via the Atlantic coast.
As is often the case with the end of the year holidays, the health authorities report a „marked increase in influenza activity“, with about ten consultations per 100,000 inhabitants.
Regarding gastroenteritis, the epidemic affects two metropolitan areas, Grand Est and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur. Four others are in a pre-epidemic situation: Hauts-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitania and Corsica.
Public Health France has recorded 188 cases of acute diarrhea per 100,000 inhabitants.
In addition, bronchiolitis remains epidemic phase in all regions of mainland France with the exception of Corsica.
