Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, a 36-year-old American actress, will be getting married in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May, Kensington Palace said Tuesday.
„Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted them permission to marry in the chapel, and the royal family will finance the wedding,“ a palace statement said.
Meghan will be baptized according to the Anglican rite and confirmed for this marriage, and „will apply for British citizenship, which will take several years,“ said a spokesman for Prince Jason Knauf.
He said that Windsor Castle, where the Queen spends most of his weekends, was a „very special place“ for Harry and Meghan, who had spent time together.
On Friday, the couple will travel to Nottingham in central England for first official engagements.
„Prince Harry and Miss Markle will travel to Nottingham Friday for two engagements on topics that her Royal Highness is passionate about – raising awareness about AIDS and youth crime,“ the palace said.
