Emmanuel Macron visits a center of Restos du Coeur, Paris, November 21, 2017
The Restos du Coeur plan to distribute „a little more meal“ this year during its 33rd winter campaign, whose kickoff was given Tuesday in Paris by Emmanuel Macron.
Between 136 and 140 million meals, against 135.8 million last year, will be distributed by the 2,085 centers and antennas of the association created by Coluche in 1985, announced its president Patrice Blanc.
This help will be provided by the 71,000 volunteers at Les Restos, whose work Mr. Macron praised on his way to the center of Grange-aux-Belles, in the 10th district of Paris.
„What you do everyday, give time and heart, is essential, you make a very good idea,“ said the president thanking the 40 volunteers of the center and the economic partners of Eating.

For more than an hour, he was explained the operation of this center where have already registered 210 families for the winter, about 600 people, according to Elodie Lemarquis, his manager.
„Unfortunately, we have to ration people“ because „we do not have enough donations, especially for early childhood: strollers, baby products, baby bottles …“, she explained .
Accompanied by Health Ministers Agnès Buzyn and Agriculture’s Stéphane Travers, Mr. Macron is the first president to launch a Restos campaign: „A very positive message“ which „means he is concerned about the maintenance of social cohesion in our country, „Blanc told AFP. „But it is also the message that for the French, the action of Eating is something important and deserves to be welcomed by all political leaders.“
Mr Blanc asked him to „defend in Brussels the renewal of the budget of the European Fund for Assistance to the Poor (FEAD)“ which expires in 2020. But „it represents one quarter of food products that are distributed and this would be catastrophic if it were not renewed. “
The donations and bequests represent half of the resources of the Restos, he added, welcoming that „solidarity does not weaken“ and that the „French remain generous“.

According to Mr. Blanc, the beneficiaries of the Eos are „primarily mothers with children“, but also „more and more young people, especially students“, as well as retirees, particularly „in rural areas“. Last year, 882,000 people were helped by the restaurants, including 31,000 babies under 12 months.
„Poverty now in France, especially in Paris, you can see at the bottom of your house: there is no need to do humanitarian work on the other side of the world“, testified Loan Tran, a volunteer for four years to the restaurants.
Called by residents on leaving the center, Mr. Macron defended his asylum policy „both generous and responsible“. „France is a generous country, but it can not accommodate all the misery of the world, as said Michel Rocard“, the former Socialist Prime Minister. „I can not hold a demagogically dangerous speech“ on this subject, added Mr. Macron.
